What is Itachi Uchiha’s IQ?
A real databook gave him a perfect 5. The internet gave him three different numbers instead.

Naruto actually rates its characters on a real, published numeric scale — and Itachi Uchiha’s Intelligence stat is a maxed 5 out of 5. Almost none of the “Itachi Uchiha IQ” claims online use that number. They invent an unrelated scale instead, and can’t even agree with each other: one site says 89, forum opinions say 160 to 200.

Itachi Uchiha’s estimated IQ

IQ Metrics estimate175–195Character analysis (fiction)
What the estimate rests on
  • Rated Intelligence 5 out of 5 in the Naruto databooks’ own numeric stat system — a maxed score, part of a 35.5-out-of-40 total among the highest documented in the series.
  • Graduated the Ninja Academy at age seven after four months of top marks in every subject, described in the source material as the youngest post-war graduate.
  • Promoted to ANBU captain at twelve (Naruto manga chapter 142); his publicly disclosed age was reported as thirteen at a superior’s request, an in-story cover detail rather than the real one.
  • Orochimaru — one of the series’ three strongest named shinobi — openly admits Itachi is stronger than him (manga chapter 140); Hashirama Senju, the First Hokage, later says he considers Itachi a greater shinobi than himself (manga chapter 620).

Every fictional estimate on this site rates a portrayal, not a person. Itachi’s feats are only as impressive as the story lets them be, and his onlookers only as easily impressed — the Hashirama line in particular is a eulogy, delivered after the fact, not a measured contest. Read this range as a rating of documented in-story feats and stats, not a real intelligence score.

Background

Who Itachi Uchiha is

Naruto was created by Masashi Kishimoto and serialised in Weekly Shōnen Jump from 1999. Itachi Uchiha first appears, unnamed, in chapter 139 (2002) and is formally identified two chapters later. He is introduced as a missing-nin who massacred his own clan in a single night, sparing only his younger brother Sasuke.

The story later reveals Itachi acted under secret orders: the massacre prevented a planned Uchiha coup he believed would trigger a wider war, and his subsequent years in the criminal organisation Akatsuki were spent covertly reporting its plans back to Konoha. He deliberately let Sasuke believe he was a remorseless villain so Sasuke would channel his grief into growing stronger rather than despairing — a deception revealed only after Itachi’s death from a terminal illness, during a final battle with Sasuke he had engineered to look close.

In the official databooks — Shueisha’s published stat guides to the series — Itachi is rated Intelligence 5, Ninjutsu 5, Genjutsu 5 and Hand Seals 5 (each out of 5), with a 35.5-out-of-40 total.

Where it came from

Where the 89–200 figure came from

Following a claim back to its first appearance is the part almost nobody does — and it is what most people are actually asking.

5/5Databook Intelligence stat

Itachi is a sharper version of a pattern this site has documented before with Light Yagami: fan-invented numbers standing in for something the source material never provided. But Naruto is a different case from Death Note in one important way — it has a real, official, numeric rating system, and Itachi already scores on it.

The Naruto databooks rate every major character on eight stats, Intelligence among them, out of five points each. Itachi’s Intelligence is a maxed 5, part of a 35.5-out-of-40 total among the highest documented in the series. That real figure is sitting in the official material, and the “IQ” discourse online almost entirely ignores it in favor of inventing an unrelated scale from nothing.

Set against Shikamaru Nara, the one fictional profile on this site with an actual stated numeric figure in canon: Itachi’s case is the databook stat block, strong but not a single quoted number the way Shikamaru’s is. See also L Lawliet and Light Yagami, whose source material gives no numeric rating system at all — Naruto’s databooks put Itachi in between those two situations.

AbsenceNo canonical IQ figure

Neither the manga, the anime, nor the official databooks assign Itachi Uchiha a score on an IQ scale.

What we foundNo canonical figure exists, and the real number gets ignored

Neither Kishimoto nor Shueisha ever assigned Itachi Uchiha, or any Naruto character, a score on an IQ scale. One fan quiz site (IQ Haven) generates 89 from a generic template test unconnected to the story; Quora answers offer “opinion: 160–200” with no source at all. Meanwhile the franchise’s own official numeric rating system — the databooks — already rates him: Intelligence 5 out of 5, tied for the maximum. Almost nobody citing an “IQ” for Itachi references that real number.

Questions

Itachi Uchiha — frequently asked

What is Itachi Uchiha’s IQ?

No figure is given anywhere in the source material. Numbers online range from 89 (a generic fan quiz site) to “160–200” (unsourced forum opinion) — a spread with no canonical basis either way.

Does Naruto ever rate Itachi’s intelligence officially?

Yes — the franchise’s official databooks rate him Intelligence 5 out of 5, the maximum, as part of an eight-stat profile totalling 35.5 out of 40. That real figure is largely ignored by sites quoting an “IQ” for him.

How old was Itachi when he became an ANBU captain?

The manga states his actual promotion age as twelve (chapter 142). His publicly disclosed age was reported as thirteen at a superior’s request — an in-story cover detail, which is why thirteen is the number that circulates most often.

Who says Itachi Uchiha is a genius, in the story itself?

Orochimaru, one of the series’ three strongest named shinobi, admits Itachi is stronger than him in chapter 140. Hashirama Senju, the First Hokage, later says he considers Itachi a greater shinobi than himself, in chapter 620.

Was Itachi really working for his village the whole time?

Yes. The story reveals the clan massacre and his years in the criminal organisation Akatsuki were both carried out under secret orders, to prevent a coup and then to monitor Akatsuki from inside it.

How does Itachi compare to Shikamaru Nara on this site?

Shikamaru is the one fictional profile here with an actual stated numeric figure in canon. Itachi’s case is a step below that but still stronger than most: a maxed official stat rating, without one single quoted number.

How does my IQ compare with Itachi Uchiha?

You can find out in about fifteen minutes. The IQ Metrics assessment is 30 questions, scored on the same 100-mean scale used throughout this page, so your result and the estimate above are at least expressed in the same units — one measured, one inferred. Once you have a number, the leaderboard shows where it would sit, and how we score and norm it explains the benchmarking.

Where does this estimate come from?

From the documented record rather than a test — the method is named above and set out in full under how we read a number. Compare it against the other fictional profiles, starting with Sherlock Holmes.
