The entertainment account RapTV published an image reading “Snoop Dogg has an IQ level of 147 that is thought to be extremely high and that of a gifted genius,” and Snoop Dogg reposted it to his own Instagram in 2020, adding only a shrug, a shout and a fist emoji rather than a sentence. LADbible reported on the post on April 8, 2023, and when a reporter raised the number with him, his entire on-record response was “I’m really brilliant” — a joke, not proof that he had sat a test or seen a score. Neither the graphic nor the repost names a psychologist, a testing service or a date, and no document with that history has surfaced since.
Versions of the claim that circulate on Facebook and X carry a different attribution: “According to IMDb, Snoop Dogg has an IQ of 147, which is considered to be the level of a “highly gifted genius.”” Accounts including DJSkandalous, DailyRapFacts, Wanna Fact PH and Raphousetv have all posted close variants of that same sentence, the copy-and-paste pattern of a template passed from account to account rather than independent reporting. acisiq.com’s dedicated trace of the claim’s history says earlier appearances “predate the repost” through Twitter posts and IMDb trivia submissions, but that it “was not able to authenticate either of those earlier appearances to a primary record.” IMDb’s own trivia page for Snoop Dogg could not be checked directly for this record — it returns an access error to automated readers — so the IMDb attribution stays exactly where acisiq.com left it: unconfirmed, and probably just a more official-sounding label stapled onto a meme after the fact.
The number also sits on celebrity-IQ aggregator and quiz pages that copy one another without citing a test, the pattern examined at where celebrity IQ numbers come from. riotiq.com’s independent review reaches the same conclusion reached here: “Snoop Dogg’s IQ has never been publicly disclosed. No credible record exists of him ever taking a formal intelligence test,” and such figures typically “originate from satirical websites or entertainment blogs, only to be repeated until they acquire a false sense of authority.” On the usual 15-point-SD scale, 147 sits just over three standard deviations above the mean, roughly one person in 1,100 if scores follow a normal curve (how rare a high IQ score is) — squarely in the range the original graphic called “gifted genius” (what counts as a genius IQ level). A score that rare needs an instrument behind it, and this one has none.
