What is Brad Pitt’s IQ?
The number that circulates is modest and still unsourced; the record is two Oscars, one for acting and one for producing, and no test.

Brad Pitt’s IQ has never been published, and the 126 that circulates for his IQ score names no test. What is documented is journalism studies at the University of Missouri that stopped two weeks short of a degree, an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor (2020) and a Best Picture Oscar as a producer of 12 Years a Slave (2014). This site’s estimated IQ for him is 115–130, an inference from that record.
Brad Pitt’s estimated IQ
- Enrolled at the University of Missouri in 1982, majoring in journalism with a focus on advertising, and left two weeks before completing the coursework for a degree, according to Wikipedia; Poynter (2011) and the university’s own Show Me Mizzou magazine (2025) both describe him as not having received the diploma.
- Won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood at the 92nd Academy Awards (February 9, 2020), and the Academy Award for Best Picture as one of the producers of 12 Years a Slave at the 86th (March 2, 2014), by the Academy’s own ceremony pages.
- Beyond the two wins, six nominations on the ceremony pages we opened: Best Supporting Actor for 12 Monkeys (68th, March 25, 1996), Best Actor for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (81st, 2009) and Moneyball (84th, 2012), and Best Picture as a producer of Moneyball (84th), The Big Short (88th, 2016) and F1 (98th, March 15, 2026).
- Co-founded the production company Plan B Entertainment in 2001 (Wikipedia gives November 2, 2001); Wikipedia lists The Departed, 12 Years a Slave and Moonlight among its Best Picture winners.
- Won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor for 12 Monkeys (January 21, 1996) and for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (January 5, 2020), and the BAFTA for Best Actor in a Supporting Role (February 2, 2020), according to Wikidata.
No test result exists. Acting and producing awards reward performance and judgment about projects, not reasoning-test ability, and he left university without a degree, so no academic result anchors the range. 115–130 is a wide, soft inference from a career, not a measurement.

What an IQ of 115–130 actually means
Set the claim aside for a moment. If someone genuinely scored in this range, here is what that would represent.
Average is 100 by construction, and about two-thirds of people fall between 85 and 115. Take the test to place your own score on this scale.
| Score range | Classification | Share of people | What it indicates |
|---|---|---|---|
| 85 – 114 | Average | ~68% | The range most people fall into. |
| 115 – 129 | Above average | ~13.6% | Roughly one person in seven. |
| 130 – 144 | Gifted | ~2% | The threshold most high-IQ societies use. |
| Above 144 | Highly gifted | ~0.1% | Figures above this range are extrapolated from the curve rather than measured. |
Percentages are approximate and describe a normal distribution. The same number means different things on tests with different standard deviations.
Thirty questions gives you a measured position on this exact scale — your score, your percentile and the ability breakdown behind it.

William Bradley Pitt was born on December 18, 1963, in Shawnee, Oklahoma. His family moved to Springfield, Missouri, where he attended Kickapoo High School and was a member of the golf, swimming and tennis teams. He enrolled at the University of Missouri in 1982, majoring in journalism with a focus on advertising. Wikipedia says he left two weeks before completing the coursework for a degree and moved to Los Angeles, where he took acting lessons and worked odd jobs.
The university’s own account adds his version. Show Me Mizzou (September 16, 2025) reports that on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast he said he “actually went through graduation” but did not finish his last week of classes. A 2011 Poynter item reports that journalism school officials had offered him the chance to earn the two credits he was missing. School results and IQ are only loosely linked, so an unfinished degree is missing evidence here, not a low score. We found no honorary degree.
Pitt first gained recognition as a cowboy hitchhiker in Thelma & Louise (1991). He played Paul Maclean in A River Runs Through It (1992) and was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for 12 Monkeys at the 68th Academy Awards. Later roles include Tyler Durden in Fight Club (1999), Rusty Ryan in Ocean’s Eleven (2001) and a lead in the Quentin Tarantino-directed Inglourious Basterds (2009). He won Best Supporting Actor for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood at the 92nd Academy Awards on February 9, 2020.
In 2001 Pitt co-founded the production company Plan B Entertainment; Wikipedia says Troy (2004) was its first film. The Academy credits him among the producers of 12 Years a Slave, which won Best Picture at the 86th Academy Awards on March 2, 2014, and of the nominated Moneyball, The Big Short and F1. He is 62 as of October 2026.

Where the 126 figure came from
Following a claim back to its first appearance is the part almost nobody does — and it is what most people are actually asking.

Brad Pitt’s IQ has never been published, and the 126 that circulates for him traces to no test we could find. The one page we opened that prints it is a blog post on IQtest.net dated December 28, 2023. It says his IQ is “estimated to be around 126,” says some sources claim 119, and names none of them. A figure with no test, tester or date is not a result. How such numbers move from site to site is covered in where celebrity IQ numbers come from.
The direction of the error is unusual here. On most pages in this section the circulating figure sits above what a sourced record supports; Brad Pitt’s 126 falls inside this site’s 115–130 estimate. An IQ near 125 would sit in roughly the top 5% on a scale with a mean of 100 and a standard deviation of 15. The fit is a coincidence of a modest guess, not evidence: the same post also offers 119, and neither number comes with a method.
Pitt makes no IQ claim in the sources we read. His published remarks there concern why he left the University of Missouri, not how he scores on anything. Opinions about someone’s intelligence, including readers’ guesses about an actor, are not test results, and a genius-level IQ is not something his record shows. The record is a long career with documented awards, which is a different kind of evidence.
Beside other actors here, 115–130 puts Pitt level with Tom Cruise, whose circulating figure is lower than his range, and just under Matt Damon’s 120–135. Damon also left a university before finishing a degree, but his record adds a screenplay that won an Oscar. Pitt’s documented strength is a long run of producing credits, which shows judgment about projects, not reasoning-test ability.
How we read a number →Each page lists Brad Pitt. 68th (March 25, 1996): nominee, Actor in a Supporting Role, 12 Monkeys. 81st (February 22, 2009): nominee, Actor in a Leading Role, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. 84th (February 26, 2012): nominee, Actor in a Leading Role and Best Picture (producer), Moneyball. 86th (March 2, 2014): winner, Best Picture, 12 Years a Slave, producers listed as Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Steve McQueen and Anthony Katagas. 88th (February 28, 2016): nominee, Best Picture, The Big Short. 92nd (February 9, 2020): winner, Actor in a Supporting Role, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. 98th (March 15, 2026): nominee, Best Picture, F1.
The university’s magazine reports that on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast, while promoting F1, Pitt looked back on his Mizzou years and “the circumstances that led to him not getting his diploma.” He is quoted: “I actually went through graduation” and “I just didn’t finish my last week of classes and actually graduate.” No number of credits or weeks, no major and no recognition or honorary degree appears on the page.
Lists “Brad Pitt, actor and producer” in its “Other” section, with no degree or year shown. No honorary degree is mentioned on the page.
Reports Pitt saying he did not graduate and had two weeks left, and a journalism school contact, Henry Hager, saying officials had given Pitt the chance to earn the two credits he was missing, an offer Pitt had not taken up. The page does not give the years he attended and does not mention an honorary degree.

Identifies Q35332 as “American actor (born 1963)”, born December 18, 1963 in Shawnee; educated at the University of Missouri and Kickapoo High School; awards include the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor for 12 Monkeys (January 21, 1996) and for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (January 5, 2020), and the BAFTA for Best Actor in a Supporting Role (February 2, 2020). No IQ statement.
States that Pitt’s IQ “is estimated to be around 126” and that “some sources claim it’s 119”; it also says “most sources” give 126. It names no test, tester, date or source and says that without his own confirmation there is no way to be certain.
The ranges used for comparison: Matt Damon 120–135 and Tom Cruise 115–130 (both Achievement and academic record). The Damon profile records that he left Harvard twelve credits short of a degree and shared the Best Original Screenplay Oscar for Good Will Hunting.
No school, testing-body, clinical or media record of an administered IQ test, and no Mensa claim, turned up in the pages checked: the Wikipedia and Wikidata entries (in the portions read), the University of Missouri pages, the Poynter item and the Academy’s ceremony pages. The only numbers found are the unsourced 126 and 119 on the IQtest.net post.
The sources behind our estimate
The figures that circulate for Brad Pitt, what we were able to confirm, and where the two diverge.
One page we opened, the blog post “brad pitt iq” on IQtest.net (December 28, 2023), says Brad Pitt’s IQ is estimated to be around 126 and adds that some sources claim 119.
We found no published IQ test result for Brad Pitt. The IQtest.net post gives 126, with 119 as an alternative, but names no test, tester, date or school record, and says that without his own confirmation there is no way to be certain. The parts of his Wikipedia biography (the first 200,000 of about 234,000 characters) and his Wikidata entry that we read do not mention IQ, Mensa or intelligence, and neither does the University of Missouri’s Show Me Mizzou article about his student years.
Both circulating numbers sit inside this site’s range, which is rare on these pages, where a sourced record usually supports a lower range than the circulating figure. That is not a confirmation: 126 and 119 name no test, so they are guesses that happen to land in a plausible band, and the range is wide because the record contains no score.

Brad Pitt — frequently asked
What is Brad Pitt’s IQ?
Brad Pitt’s IQ has never been published: no test result is on record, and the 126 that circulates for him names no test. What is documented is two Academy Awards, a production company co-founded in 2001 and University of Missouri journalism studies that stopped two weeks short of a degree. This site’s estimated IQ range for him is 115–130, an inference, not a measurement.
What is Brad Pitt’s IQ score?
No IQ score for Brad Pitt is on record. The only numbers we found are 126, with 119 as an alternative, on an IQtest.net blog post dated December 28, 2023, and the post cites no test, tester or date. Treat any score attached to him as a guess unless it names a test, who gave it and when.
What is Brad Pitt’s estimated IQ?
This site’s estimated IQ for Brad Pitt is 115–130, which on a scale with a mean of 100 and a standard deviation of 15 would fall between roughly the top 16% and the top 2%. It rests on his documented record, mainly two Oscars and a producing career, and it is wide because no test result exists to narrow it.
Is Brad Pitt intelligent?
Nothing published measures it. His record shows sustained success as an actor and producer, including a Best Picture Oscar as a producer of 12 Years a Slave (2014). Awards like that are judged on performance and project choice, not reasoning tests, so they say little about an IQ score. He also left the University of Missouri two weeks before completing the coursework for a degree.
Did Brad Pitt take an IQ test?
No IQ test is documented for him. We found no school, testing-body or media record of one and no Mensa claim, and the parts of his Wikipedia biography, Wikidata entry and University of Missouri coverage that we read do not mention one. The only numbers online are unsourced estimates.
Did Brad Pitt graduate from college?
No. He enrolled at the University of Missouri in 1982, majoring in journalism with a focus on advertising, and left two weeks before completing the coursework for a degree. The university’s Show Me Mizzou magazine (2025) reports him saying he went through graduation but did not finish his last week of classes. We found no honorary degree.
How many Oscars has Brad Pitt won?
Two. He won Best Supporting Actor for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood at the 92nd Academy Awards (February 9, 2020) and Best Picture as a producer of 12 Years a Slave at the 86th (March 2, 2014). The Academy’s ceremony pages we opened list eight nominations for him in all, including those two wins.
How does Brad Pitt’s estimated IQ compare with Matt Damon’s?
This site’s estimate for Pitt, 115–130, sits just below Matt Damon’s 120–135 and level with Tom Cruise’s 115–130. Damon also left a university before finishing a degree, but his record includes an Oscar-winning screenplay. All three figures are estimates from public records, not test scores.
