What is Snoop Dogg’s IQ?
The 147 traces to an Instagram graphic he reposted with three emoji in 2020, not any test. His documented record is a diploma and a debut album that opened at No. 1 — commercial proof, not cognitive.

Snoop Dogg’s IQ is unknown: no IQ test result has been published for him. The 147 repeated across aggregator sites traces to an Instagram graphic he reposted in 2020, captioned only with emoji, and his documented record supports a lower estimated IQ, roughly 115–130.

Snoop Dogg’s estimated IQ

IQ Metrics estimate115–130Achievement and academic record
What the estimate rests on
  • Graduated on schedule from Long Beach Polytechnic High School in 1989 — no gifted-program placement, academic honor or standardized test score turned up in the record.
  • His debut album, Doggystyle, opened at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 on November 23, 1993 with 806,858 first-week copies sold, and was RIAA-certified 4× Platinum on May 31, 1994.
  • “Drop It Like It’s Hot,” with Pharrell Williams, topped the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks from December 10, 2004, his first of several chart-topping records across a recording career now in its fourth decade.
  • Co-founded the cannabis-focused venture capital firm Casa Verde Capital in 2018 with Karan Wadhera and Ted Chung; the firm closed a second fund at $100 million in December 2020.
  • Reacquired the Death Row Records brand from Blackstone-controlled MNRK Music Group on February 9, 2022, thirty years after first signing to the label, and won two Sports Emmy Awards for NBC’s Paris 2024 Olympics coverage.

A chart-topping debut, a venture fund and a broadcast Emmy measure commercial timing, entrepreneurship and audience appeal more than cognitive ability, and none is a graded test; the only academic record found is an on-schedule high school diploma with no reported honors or scores. The range matches Kanye West’s and Drake’s, two peers whose documented achievement is likewise commercial rather than academic.

Background

Who Snoop Dogg is

Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr. was born on October 20, 1971, in Long Beach, California. He graduated from Long Beach Polytechnic High School in 1989. By the early 1990s he was circulating freestyle tapes locally as Snoop Doggy Dogg. One reached the producer Dr. Dre, who featured him on the “Deep Cover” single in 1992 and then on The Chronic that December. Snoop Dogg has described himself as one of the founding members of Dre and Suge Knight’s new label, Death Row Records.

His debut solo album, Doggystyle, came out on November 23, 1993. It opened at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 806,858 copies sold in its first week, and the RIAA certified it 4× Platinum on May 31, 1994. “Gin and Juice” earned a Grammy nomination at the 37th Annual Grammy Awards in 1995. Reporting in February 2024 put his tally at sixteen nominations and no wins. His biggest pop hit came almost a decade later. “Drop It Like It’s Hot,” produced by Pharrell Williams, topped the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks from December 10, 2004.

Outside music, Snoop Dogg built a business record in cannabis, media and ownership. He co-founded the venture firm Casa Verde Capital in 2018 with Karan Wadhera and Ted Chung. The firm closed its second fund at $100 million in December 2020, per SEC filings. On February 9, 2022, he reacquired the Death Row Records brand from the Blackstone-controlled MNRK Music Group, thirty years after first signing to the label.

Broadcasting became a third act. NBC named him a special correspondent for the Paris 2024 Olympics, where he toured venues with host Mike Tirico. The coverage won two Sports Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Live Special – Championship Event. He returned in the same role for the Milan Cortina Winter Games, which opened February 6, 2026. His public record runs almost entirely through entertainment, ownership and broadcasting, not the classroom.

Where it came from

Where the 147 figure came from

Following a claim back to its first appearance is the part almost nobody does — and it is what most people are actually asking.

Snoop Dogg at WrestleMania XL, April 2024

The Snoop Dogg IQ figure repeated most often is 147, and it traces to a single graphic, not a test. The entertainment account RapTV published an image reading “Snoop Dogg has an IQ level of 147 that is thought to be extremely high and that of a gifted genius.” Snoop Dogg reposted it to his Instagram in 2020, adding only a shrug, a shout and a fist emoji. LADbible reported on the post on April 8, 2023. Asked about it, he said, “I’m really brilliant.” That is a joke, not proof of a test. Neither the graphic nor the repost names a psychologist, a testing service or a date.

Other versions carry a different label: “According to IMDb, Snoop Dogg has an IQ of 147, which is considered to be the level of a “highly gifted genius.”” Several fact accounts have posted close variants of that sentence, the copy-and-paste pattern of a template, not independent reporting. acisiq.com’s trace of the claim says earlier appearances “predate the repost” on Twitter and in IMDb trivia, but that it “was not able to authenticate either of those earlier appearances to a primary record.” So the IMDb attribution stays unconfirmed, and is probably an official-sounding label attached to a meme after the fact.

The number also sits on aggregator and quiz pages that copy one another without citing a test. This is the pattern examined in where celebrity IQ numbers come from. riotiq.com reaches the same conclusion: “Snoop Dogg’s IQ has never been publicly disclosed. No credible record exists of him ever taking a formal intelligence test.” On the usual scale (SD 15), 147 is just over three standard deviations above average, roughly 1 person in 1,100 (how rare a high IQ score is). That is in the range the graphic called “gifted genius” (what counts as a genius IQ level). A score that rare needs an instrument behind it, and this one has none.

What Snoop Dogg’s record does contain is a diploma. He graduated from Long Beach Polytechnic High School in 1989, on the standard schedule. No source we found gives a gifted placement, class rank or test score. That is an achievement record, not an IQ test. Any statement about his IQ level has to start there, not from a 147 nobody measured. The nearest comparisons on this site are close. Kanye West has a self-reported 133 and no independent test. Drake’s most-cited figure, 142, has no traceable source. Eminem, who left school without graduating, sits in a similar band, 120–140.

People also search the name with another spelling: “Snoop Dog IQ” and “Snoop Dogg IQ test.” The rapper’s name is Snoop Dogg, and the answer is the same under either spelling. No IQ test result has been published for him, so there is no “Snoop Dogg IQ test” score to compare with yours. To place your own score, use the percentile calculator. For a timed practice test in the Wonderlic format, see the Wonderlic practice test.

Other musicians on this site also have circulating figures far from their estimated ranges. Lil Wayne’s is 96 against an estimate of 115–130, and Lady Gaga’s is 166 against 120–135.

Secondaryriotiq.com, “What Is Snoop Dogg’s IQ?”

Independently concludes Snoop Dogg’s IQ “has never been publicly disclosed” and that fabricated celebrity figures typically “originate from satirical websites or entertainment blogs, only to be repeated until they acquire a false sense of authority.”

The figures that circulate for Snoop Dogg, what we were able to confirm, and where the two diverge.

Most widely cited147

147 is the figure attached to Snoop Dogg on celebrity-IQ aggregator and quiz sites and in social posts that call it proof of a “gifted genius.” Several credit it to IMDb.

What we foundNo sourced test — the number traces to a reposted graphic, not a result

No published IQ test result for Snoop Dogg exists. The documented starting point is a graphic from the entertainment account RapTV: “Snoop Dogg has an IQ level of 147 that is thought to be extremely high and that of a gifted genius.” He reposted it to his own Instagram in 2020, adding only a shrug, a shout and a fist emoji. LADbible reported on the post on April 8, 2023. Asked about the number, his on-record answer was “I’m really brilliant,” a quip, not a test result. acisiq.com says earlier appearances on Twitter and IMDb trivia “predate the repost,” but it “was not able to authenticate either of those earlier appearances to a primary record.” No page offers proof of a score, who gave it or when.

Every aggregator and quiz site gives the same 147 instead of a spread of independent guesses. That points to one meme being copied, not to several people reaching a number by different reasoning. The documented record supports a band roughly 15 to 30 points lower.

Questions

Snoop Dogg — frequently asked

What is Snoop Dogg’s IQ?

No IQ test result for Snoop Dogg has ever been published, so his IQ is unknown. The number quoted most often, 147, traces to an Instagram graphic he reposted in 2020 and names no test, examiner or date. An estimate inferred from his documented record — a high school diploma and three decades of commercial success — falls at roughly 115–130.

What is Snoop Dog’s IQ?

“Snoop Dog” is a common misspelling of Snoop Dogg, and the answer is the same: no IQ test result has been published for him. The 147 that circulates traces to a 2020 Instagram repost. This site’s estimate is 115–130, inferred from his documented record.

Where does the claim that Snoop Dogg has an IQ of 147 come from?

It traces to a graphic made by the entertainment account RapTV, reading that Snoop Dogg “has an IQ level of 147 … that of a gifted genius.” Snoop Dogg reposted it to his own Instagram in 2020, adding only emoji; LADbible reported on the post in April 2023. No psychologist, testing service or document has ever produced the number.

Did Snoop Dogg ever take an IQ test?

No record shows that he has. The 147 figure comes from a social-media graphic he reposted, not a test he sat. When a reporter raised it with him, his only response on record was the quip “I’m really brilliant,” reported by LADbible in 2023 — not a claim of a measured score.

Does the Snoop Dogg IQ of 147 really come from IMDb?

That attribution is unverified. Several social posts credit the number to IMDb using near-identical copied wording, but no source checked here — including the site that traced the claim’s history — could confirm an authentic IMDb entry behind it. The documented trail leads only to Snoop Dogg’s 2020 Instagram repost of another account’s graphic.

Is Snoop Dogg a genius?

Nothing in the public record measures that. His documented achievements are commercial and entrepreneurial: a debut album that opened at No. 1, at least sixteen Grammy nominations without a win, a cannabis-industry venture fund he co-founded, and two Sports Emmy Awards for Olympics broadcasting — none of which is a cognitive test.

Did Snoop Dogg finish high school?

Yes. He graduated from Long Beach Polytechnic High School in Long Beach, California, in 1989, on the standard schedule. No source found reports a gifted-program placement, an academic honor or a standardized test score from his schooling — only a diploma earned on time.

How does Snoop Dogg’s estimated IQ compare with Kanye West’s and Drake’s?

This page’s estimate for Snoop Dogg, 115–130, matches the range given to Kanye West and sits within Drake’s. Both are musicians whose documented record is commercial rather than academic: West self-reported 133 in 2018, and Drake’s most-cited figure, 142, has a similarly untraceable origin.

Is there a Snoop Dogg IQ test I can take?

There is no published Snoop Dogg IQ test result, so no quiz can compare you with his score. Online quizzes with his name are not his result. Use the percentile calculator to place a score you already have, or try the Wonderlic practice test for a timed cognitive-ability format.

How does my IQ compare with Snoop Dogg?

You can find out in about fifteen minutes. The IQ Metrics assessment is 30 questions, scored on the same 100-mean scale used throughout this page, so your result and the estimate above are at least expressed in the same units — one measured, one inferred. Once you have a number, the leaderboard shows where it would sit, and how we score and norm it explains the benchmarking.

Where does this estimate come from?

From the documented record rather than a test — the method is named above and set out in full under how we read a number. Compare it against the other musicians profiles, starting with Brian May.
