What is Jamie Dimon’s IQ?
The Jamie Dimon IQ question has a documented half and an empty half: a Baker Scholar designation at Harvard Business School, and no IQ test result in any source we found.

No IQ test result has been published for Jamie Dimon, and no Jamie Dimon IQ score circulates: the few pages that mention his IQ give no number. What is documented is a 1978 Tufts degree, a 1982 Harvard Business School MBA with Baker Scholar honors (the top 5% of the class) and a career that reached the top of JPMorgan Chase, enough for an estimated IQ of 130–145, not a measured one.

Jamie Dimon’s estimated IQ

IQ Metrics estimate130–145Achievement and academic record
What the estimate rests on
  • A Harvard Business School MBA, 1982, with Baker Scholar honors. Poets&Quants (June 17, 2018) says Jamie Dimon was a Baker Scholar and Key Executives (September 1, 2022) says he graduated as one in 1982; Harvard’s own commencement report (May 29, 2026) defines Baker Scholars as the top 5 percent of the MBA class. We found no HBS list for 1982.
  • A bachelor’s degree from Tufts University in 1978, in psychology and economics (The Tufts Daily, March 28, 2006). The honors wording conflicts: Wikipedia says summa cum laude, a reference entry reprinted on Encyclopedia.com says he graduated cum laude, and JPMorgan Chase’s biography gives no honors, so this range does not lean on it.
  • A dated ladder of roles, none of which carries a score: chief financial officer of Commercial Credit at 30 in 1986 (his own account to Euromoney in 2019), president and chief operating officer of Travelers from 1990 through 1998, president of Citigroup in 1998, chairman and CEO of Bank One in 2000, and CEO of JPMorgan Chase from January 1, 2006, with the chairmanship a year later. It shows trust and judgment, so it supports the floor but does not lift the ceiling.

No IQ, SAT, GMAT or grade-point figure has been published for Jamie Dimon, so this range is inferred from class standing and career, not from a test. A Baker Scholar designation ranks him inside one selected MBA class, not against the population; the Tufts honors are reported two ways; and class rank tracks IQ only loosely. His management record, which no test scores, is left out of the ceiling.

Background

Who Jamie Dimon is

How smart is Jamie Dimon, judged only by what can be checked? He was born on March 13, 1956, in New York City, the date and place that Encyclopedia.com’s reference entry and Wikidata both give. The Browning School’s alumni awards page lists James Dimon, class of 1974, as its 2009 recipient of the Charles W. Cook ’38 Alumnus Achievement Award. At Tufts University he took a bachelor’s degree in psychology and economics in 1978, and Tufts’s TCU Senate presented him its 2005 Light on the Hill Award on March 27, 2006, The Tufts Daily reported. In a 2019 Euromoney interview he said a paper he wrote in college reached Sandy Weill and won him a summer job at Shearson doing budgets.

From Tufts he went to the Management Analysis Center in Boston as a consultant, 1978 to 1980 per Encyclopedia.com, then to Harvard Business School, where he earned his MBA in 1982. Poets&Quants and Key Executives both say he was a Baker Scholar, the school’s highest academic award, which Harvard’s May 29, 2026 commencement report describes as going to the top 5 percent of the current MBA class. After graduating he took a job as Weill’s assistant at American Express, listed as vice president and assistant to the president for 1982 to 1985, and followed Weill to Commercial Credit, where, he told Euromoney, he became chief financial officer in 1986 at the age of 30.

JPMorgan Chase’s biography, in the copy hosted by The Business Council, traces the rest. Commercial Credit acquired Primerica in 1987 and The Travelers Corporation in 1993; Dimon was president and chief operating officer of Travelers from 1990 through 1998 and, after the 1997 merger of Smith Barney and Salomon Brothers, co-chairman and co-CEO of the combined brokerage. In 1998 he was named president of Citigroup, formed from Travelers Group and Citicorp, and in 2000 he joined Bank One as chairman and CEO. Bank One merged with JPMorgan Chase on July 1, 2004, making him president and chief operating officer; he became CEO on January 1, 2006 (The Tufts Daily and Wikipedia give December 31, 2005) and chairman a year later.

As of October 2026 he remains chairman and CEO of JPMorgan Chase: the firm’s second-quarter 2026 results release, as reprinted by The Asian Banker on July 15, 2026, introduces him as chairman and CEO, and we found no later change. Jamie Dimon’s estimated IQ here, 130–145, is inferred from that record and from nothing measured. Its floor, an IQ around 130, reflects completed degrees at Tufts and Harvard Business School and a record of promotions; its ceiling, in the territory of an IQ of 140, reflects the Baker designation. Whether that makes him a genius depends on what genius-level means. For what research says about a leader’s IQ, see leader IQ: is there a sweet spot near 120.

Where it came from

Why no figure circulates

Following a claim back to its first appearance is the part almost nobody does — and it is what most people are actually asking.

Jamie Dimon listening during a session at the World Economic Forum in Davos on January 23, 2013

Jamie Dimon’s IQ is not attached to a number on any page we could open. Searches for jamie dimon iq, jamie dimon iq score and jamie dimon iq estimate return his biographies, a YouTube Short titled “Jamie Dimon’s IQ Test on Investing” (we could read only its title, which gives no score) and two BYDFi question-and-answer pages, each with a question dated August 26, 2026, that discuss “Jamie Dimon’s IQ” and “Jamie Dimon’s high IQ” in connection with cryptocurrency and give no figure, no test and no source. BrainManager’s list of 23 highest-IQ celebrities (April 30, 2025) and Sebastian Jensen’s October 23, 2023 Substack post “Database of IQ Estimations Copy” do not list him. For how numbers like these usually take hold, see where celebrity IQ numbers come from; here there is no number yet to trace.

Remarks about how smart he is, admiring or critical, are opinions, not test results. Besides that Short’s title, the one IQ-related line attached to Dimon in what we opened is a clip title: the How Leaders Lead website lists a 0:51 audio clip headed “EQ is more important than IQ” from the episode “Part 1: Always Have a Plan to Deal With Problems” (September 29, 2020), but the clip’s page carries no transcript, so we cannot say what he said or whether he gave a score. A score would have to come from a test he sat and chose to release, and nothing we found says he did. The nearest hard evidence of ranking is academic: Baker Scholars are the top 5 percent of a Harvard Business School class, a rank and not a score; how closely class standing tracks IQ is a looser question, see whether IQ predicts school success.

The Jamie Dimon qualification record is well documented, but one detail is reported two ways. Wikipedia says he graduated from Tufts in 1978 summa cum laude; the only footnote in that passage points to a 2019 Euromoney profile in which the page we read never names Tufts or any honor. A reference entry in the International Directory of Business Biographies, reprinted on Encyclopedia.com, says “In 1978 Dimon graduated cum laude from Tufts University.” JPMorgan Chase’s biography says only that he earned a bachelor’s degree from Tufts and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, and The Tufts Daily (March 28, 2006) gives the degree as a BA in psychology and economics with no honors. A figure that depended on the higher wording would rest on something we could not confirm, which is why this range does not.

Placed among the business profiles here, Jamie Dimon’s 130–145 sits five points under Sundar Pichai’s and Peter Thiel’s 135–150, all three built by the same achievement-and-academic-record method and none from a test. Pichai’s record includes a Stanford master’s degree in materials science and engineering and a reported first place in his department at IIT Kharagpur; Dimon’s has an economics-and-psychology bachelor’s degree and one confirmed ranked result, the Baker designation, so his range starts and ends lower. It overlaps Charlie Munger’s 140–155 and touches the floor of Warren Buffett’s 145–160, and like Munger’s profile it has no circulating figure to audit. It sits well below Jim Simons’s 150–165, a range that rests on a completed mathematics doctorate and a peer-judged prize, evidence Dimon’s record does not include.

What we foundNo figure and no test result

No published Jamie Dimon IQ test result exists, and no SAT, GMAT or class-rank figure has been published either. The two BYDFi pages treat his IQ as a given without stating it, cite no test and name no source. BrainManager’s list of 23 highest-IQ celebrities (April 30, 2025) and Sebastian Jensen’s October 23, 2023 “Database of IQ Estimations Copy” on Substack do not include him. Wikipedia, JPMorgan Chase’s biography, The Tufts Daily and the reference entries we read mention no IQ test. The only IQ-related wording attached to him sits in titles, that YouTube Short’s and a clip’s on the How Leaders Lead website (“EQ is more important than IQ”), and neither comes with a score or a transcript we could read.

Questions

Jamie Dimon — frequently asked

What is Jamie Dimon’s IQ?

Jamie Dimon’s IQ is unknown: no IQ test result has been published for him, and no Jamie Dimon IQ score circulates with a test behind it. This site’s Jamie Dimon IQ estimate, 130–145, is inferred from his Harvard Business School MBA with Baker Scholar honors, his 1978 Tufts degree and his career, not from any score.

Did Jamie Dimon take an IQ test, and is there a Jamie Dimon IQ score?

No Jamie Dimon IQ test result has been published, and none of the pages we checked, including JPMorgan Chase’s biography, Wikipedia and The Tufts Daily, says he took one. The only pages we found that mention his IQ, two BYDFi question-and-answer posts dated August 26, 2026, give no number and no source.

How smart is Jamie Dimon?

The record shows a Tufts degree in psychology and economics (1978), a Harvard Business School MBA (1982) with Baker Scholar honors, which go to the top 5 percent of a class, and a career that made him chief executive of JPMorgan Chase on January 1, 2006. No test measures it; this site’s estimated IQ range is 130–145.

What are Jamie Dimon’s qualifications and education?

Jamie Dimon holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and economics from Tufts University (1978) and an MBA from Harvard Business School (1982), where he was reportedly a Baker Scholar. JPMorgan Chase’s biography lists no other degree. He worked at American Express, Commercial Credit, Travelers, Citigroup and Bank One before JPMorgan Chase.

Was Jamie Dimon a Baker Scholar at Harvard Business School?

Reportedly yes. Poets&Quants (2018) says Jamie Dimon was a Baker Scholar, and Key Executives says he graduated from Harvard Business School as one in 1982. Harvard defines Baker Scholars as the top 5 percent of the MBA class, but we found no school list for 1982 to confirm it directly.

Did Jamie Dimon graduate from Tufts summa cum laude?

Sources disagree. Wikipedia says summa cum laude, while a reference entry reprinted on Encyclopedia.com says he graduated cum laude in 1978. JPMorgan Chase’s biography and The Tufts Daily give no honors. We found no Tufts record, so the honors level is unconfirmed, and this page’s IQ estimate does not depend on it.

How does Jamie Dimon’s estimated IQ compare with Warren Buffett’s and Charlie Munger’s?

This site’s Jamie Dimon IQ estimate, 130–145, is lower than Warren Buffett’s 145–160 and overlaps the lower part of Charlie Munger’s 140–155. All three come from the achievement-and-academic-record method with no published test, and Dimon’s range is the lowest of the three because his one confirmed ranked result is a class standing.

How does my IQ compare with Jamie Dimon?

You can find out in about fifteen minutes. The IQ Metrics assessment is 30 questions, scored on the same 100-mean scale used throughout this page, so your result and the estimate above are at least expressed in the same units — one measured, one inferred. Once you have a number, the leaderboard shows where it would sit, and how we score and norm it explains the benchmarking.
