What is Alexandr Wang’s IQ?
No IQ score exists for Alexandr Wang, but a teenage contest file does: a 2014 U.S. Physics Team seat, a 2013 Math Olympiad Program berth and a year at MIT.

Alexandr Wang’s IQ has never been published: no test result exists, and no “Alexandr Wang IQ score” page we could open states one. The documented record is a teenage contest file, a year at MIT, the 2016 founding of Scale AI and, as of October 2026, the Chief AI Officer job at Meta.
Alexandr Wang’s estimated IQ
- Named in May 2014 to the 19-member U.S. Physics Team while a student at Los Alamos High School, chosen through an exam process that began with about 4,277 students sitting the F=ma exam.
- Qualified for the Mathematical Olympiad Program in 2013, which admits students who score highly on the USAMO; the biography published with his team selection also lists a USACO finalist placing (2012–2013) and a USAMTS gold medal (2012).
- Competed in the UNM–PNM Math Contest seven years in a row starting in fifth grade, finishing third overall in 2009–10 and first overall in each of the next three contests, according to the University of New Mexico’s mathematics department.
- Enrolled at MIT, left after about a year, and founded Scale AI in 2016 at age 19; the company was in Y Combinator’s Summer 2016 batch.
- Ran Scale AI as CEO until June 2025 and, as of October 2026, is Meta’s Chief AI Officer, leading Meta Superintelligence Labs.
No IQ, SAT or ACT result has been published for Wang, so this Alexandr Wang IQ estimate is inferred from contest standing and career outcomes, not measured. Contest rankings reward years of preparation as well as reasoning, the longer list of results comes from a biography published with his 2014 team selection rather than from the contests’ own records, and there is no degree to anchor the top of the range.

What an IQ of 140–155 actually means
Set the claim aside for a moment. If someone genuinely scored in this range, here is what that would represent.
| Score range | Classification | Share of people | What it indicates |
|---|---|---|---|
| 85 – 114 | Average | ~68% | The range most people fall into. |
| 115 – 129 | Above average | ~13.6% | Roughly one person in seven. |
| 130 – 144 | Gifted | ~2% | The threshold most high-IQ societies use. |
| Above 144 | Highly gifted | ~0.1% | Figures above this range are extrapolated from the curve rather than measured. |
Percentages are approximate and describe a normal distribution. The same number means different things on tests with different standard deviations.

How smart is Alexandr Wang, judged only by what can be checked? He was born in January 1997 in Los Alamos, New Mexico, according to Wikipedia, which cites his own post; Wikidata confirms the year and the town and lists Los Alamos High School and MIT as his schools. The University of New Mexico’s Department of Mathematics and Statistics records that he entered its UNM–PNM Math Contest in 2007–08 as a fifth grader and competed seven years in a row through 2013–14, finishing third overall in 2009–10, first overall in each of the next three contests and fifth overall in 2013–14.
In May 2014, as a Los Alamos High School student, he was named to the 19-member U.S. Physics Team, chosen through an exam process that began in January with about 4,277 students sitting the F=ma exam, and he joined the team’s training camp in College Park, Maryland. The American Association of Physics Teachers’ list of the five medalists from the 2014 International Physics Olympiad in Astana, Kazakhstan, does not include him. The biography published with his selection lists a USACO finalist placing (2012–2013), the Mathematical Olympiad Program (2013), a USAMTS gold medal (2012), the National Science Bowl (2012–2014), third place at the National Who Wants to Be a Mathematician (2013), USAMO (2011–2014) and USAPhO semifinalist (2011–2014); the LANL Foundation also named him a Gold Scholar that month.
Wang held a coding job at Quora while still in his teens, according to a July 2023 Benzinga profile, and TechCrunch’s April 2021 profile calls him a technical lead at Quora before he founded Scale; the same profile lists work as an algorithm developer at Hudson River Trading and as a software engineer at Addepar. He enrolled at MIT and spent about one year there; sources describe his field as artificial intelligence (TechCrunch) or mathematics and computer science (The Week, quoting Forbes). Meta’s biography says he founded Scale AI in 2016 as a 19-year-old MIT student, and Y Combinator lists the company in its Summer 2016 batch. A year at MIT is a real credential but a short one; for how scores at selective schools are usually read, see what MIT students’ average IQ implies.
Scale AI, which Wang co-founded with Lucy Guo, supplies data labeling and large language model evaluation services for AI developers. He was its CEO until June 2025, when he moved to Meta as its first Chief AI Officer to lead Meta Superintelligence Labs, the division Meta set up that month; former GitHub CEO Nat Friedman joined as head of product, per Wikipedia. As of October 2026, Meta’s leadership page still lists Wang as Chief AI Officer, and a Yahoo Finance article dated September 24, 2026 shows him speaking at the Meta Connect event on September 23 as Meta’s chief AI officer. TIME named him to its TIME100 AI list in 2023, and Wikipedia records two Forbes 30 Under 30 selections, in 2018 and 2021. Wang’s estimated IQ here, 140–155, is inferred from that record and from nothing measured.

Why no figure circulates
Following a claim back to its first appearance is the part almost nobody does — and it is what most people are actually asking.

Alexandr Wang’s IQ is not a figure anyone has measured, and, unusually for a founder in this category, it is not a figure any aggregator has invented for him either. Searches for “alexandr wang iq,” “alexandr wang iq score,” “alexandr wang iq level estimate,” “alexandr wang ai iq” and “scale ai ceo iq” returned biographies and Meta and Scale AI news, not a number. CelebrityIQ.info’s Tech Entrepreneurs category, which ranks 27 profiles by estimated IQ and says its scores are “estimates compiled from public sources,” has no Wang entry. For how such numbers usually take hold, see where celebrity IQ numbers come from.
Alexandr Wang’s AI IQ, as people type it, folds two questions into one: the IQ of the man who leads Meta’s AI organization, which this page addresses, or the “IQ” of the language models his former company supplies data for and evaluates, which is a different measurement, because an AI benchmark result is not an IQ. “Scale AI CEO IQ” has its own wrinkle. As of October 2026 Scale’s chief executive is Francis deSouza, a former Google Cloud executive named to the post effective August 10, 2026, succeeding interim CEO Jason Droege, according to The Star on July 31, 2026. Wang founded Scale in 2016, ran it as CEO until June 2025, and now works at Meta.
Alexandr Wang’s estimated IQ, 140–155 on this site, sits just above Sam Altman’s 138–150 and overlaps the 145–160 given to both Dario Amodei and Demis Hassabis; all three lead or founded frontier AI efforts, and none has a published test score. Wang’s file is unusual for the group in what it contains, dated and ranked results from national contests in mathematics, physics and computing before he turned eighteen, and in what it lacks: Altman’s record, like Wang’s, ends without a degree, while Amodei and Hassabis completed doctorates. Wang also works for the company Mark Zuckerberg runs, whose range here is 135–145.
A contest result is not an IQ test score. Selection for a national team rewards years of preparation as well as reasoning, a distinction taken up in talent versus practice, and high scores are poorly resolved by most tests, as the IQ ceiling effect explains. That is why this page gives a band centered near an IQ of 150 and not a point value, and why it declines to repeat a bigger number that nobody has sourced.
How we read a number →Checked: Wikipedia, Wikidata, Meta’s leadership page, Y Combinator’s Scale AI listing, the UNM and AAPT pages, and searches for “alexandr wang iq,” “alexandr wang iq score,” “alexandr wang iq level estimate,” “alexandr wang ai iq” and “scale ai ceo iq.” None states a figure or cites a test. CelebrityIQ.info’s Tech Entrepreneurs category (27 profiles) has no Wang entry.

The sources behind our estimate
The figures that circulate for Alexandr Wang, what we were able to confirm, and where the two diverge.
No figure was found. Searches for Alexandr Wang’s IQ, IQ score, IQ level, IQ estimate, AI IQ and Scale AI CEO IQ returned biographies and company news but no stated number, and CelebrityIQ.info, the one IQ-ranking site checked that covers tech founders, has no entry for him.
No published IQ test result exists for Alexandr Wang. CelebrityIQ.info’s Tech Entrepreneurs category ranks 27 profiles, from Jim Simons at 170 to Henry Ford at 125, and Wang is not among them; the site’s footer calls its numbers estimates compiled from public sources, not verified test results. Wikipedia, Wikidata, Meta’s leadership page, Y Combinator’s Scale AI listing and the news coverage read for this page mention contests, schools and jobs, never a test.
With no circulating figure to weigh against it, the only numbers on this page are the ends of this site’s own range, 140 and 155. It is a band rather than a point because the record is strong on contests and outcomes and contains no measurement.
