What is Ben Shapiro’s IQ?
Two grades skipped, college at 16, a Harvard law degree by 23: those are on the record. The IQ of 140 attached to his name is not.

No Ben Shapiro IQ test result has been published, and the 140 and 145 that circulate come from aggregator pages that cite no test. What is documented is a UCLA B.A. at 20 (2004), a Harvard Law School J.D. (2007) and admission to the California bar on December 13, 2007, which support an estimated IQ of 130–145: an inference from the record, not a measurement.
Ben Shapiro’s estimated IQ
- A B.A. in political science from UCLA in 2004, finished at 20 after he skipped grades three and nine and entered at 16 (Associated Press, August 10, 2004); Simon & Schuster’s author page adds summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa.
- A J.D. from Harvard Law School in 2007, cum laude according to Simon & Schuster’s author page; the State Bar of California lists Harvard as his law school.
- Admission to the State Bar of California on December 13, 2007, then work as an attorney at Goodwin Procter LLP and at a Los Angeles legal consulting firm he started (his Daily Wire biography).
- A syndicated column from age 17 and a first book, Brainwashed (WND Books, May 2004), out the year he graduated from UCLA (Daily Wire biography; Associated Press).
- Context, not his score: Harvard Law School’s profile of its Class of 2029 reports an admit rate of 8.6% and a median LSAT of 174, and its handbook gives cum laude to the next 30 percent of a class after the top honors.
No IQ, LSAT or bar-exam score has been published for him, so this estimated IQ is an inference from credentials: the Harvard profile describes today’s class, not his, cum laude marks a band of a class rather than its top, and a media career rewards persistence and audience as well as reasoning. The circulating 140 and 145 fall inside the range, which makes them plausible and nothing more; the true value could sit outside it in either direction.

What an IQ of 130–145 actually means
Set the claim aside for a moment. If someone genuinely scored in this range, here is what that would represent.
Average is 100 by construction, and about two-thirds of people fall between 85 and 115. Take the test to place your own score on this scale.
| Score range | Classification | Share of people | What it indicates |
|---|---|---|---|
| 85 – 114 | Average | ~68% | The range most people fall into. |
| 115 – 129 | Above average | ~13.6% | Roughly one person in seven. |
| 130 – 144 | Gifted | ~2% | The threshold most high-IQ societies use. |
| Above 144 | Highly gifted | ~0.1% | Figures above this range are extrapolated from the curve rather than measured. |
Percentages are approximate and describe a normal distribution. The same number means different things on tests with different standard deviations.
Thirty questions gives you a measured position on this exact scale — your score, your percentile and the ability breakdown behind it.

Ben Shapiro’s qualifications begin with an accelerated school career. Benjamin Aaron Shapiro was born on January 15, 1984 (Wikipedia gives Burbank, California; Wikidata gives Los Angeles) and grew up in the Los Angeles area. An Associated Press profile of August 10, 2004 says he skipped grades three and nine and entered UCLA at 16, and that he graduated that spring at 20. His degree was a B.A. in political science in 2004, according to his Daily Wire biography; Simon & Schuster’s author page says he graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, and Wikidata records Latin honors for both his UCLA and his Harvard degrees.
Harvard Law School came next: the AP profile already has him headed there, and Simon & Schuster’s author page says he graduated cum laude in 2007. The State Bar of California lists Benjamin Aaron Shapiro as admitted on December 13, 2007, with Harvard as his law school; its history table shows that admission. His Daily Wire biography says he worked as an attorney at Goodwin Procter LLP and then started a legal consulting firm in Los Angeles. Under Harvard’s current handbook, cum laude goes to the next 30 percent of a class after summa and magna cum laude (magna is the next ten percent); we did not find the 2007 rule, but on the current one the honor marks a band of the class, not a rank.
His writing career began before either degree. His Daily Wire biography says Creators Syndicate hired him at 17 to become the youngest nationally syndicated columnist in the U.S., and the AP profile notes that his parents had to sign his first contract because he was 17. His first book, Brainwashed, was published by WND Books in May 2004, the year he graduated from UCLA; later titles include Bullies (Simon & Schuster, 2013) and The Right Side of History (HarperCollins, 2019), which the biography calls a New York Times #1 bestseller. In 2015 he co-founded The Daily Wire with Jeremy Boreing. As of September 2026 the Daily Wire lists him as founding editor-in-chief, editor emeritus and host of The Ben Shapiro Show, a podcast that Wikipedia says launched in September 2015 and whose listing shows Ep. 2515, dated September 29, 2026.
Ben Shapiro’s estimated IQ rests on that record and nothing else: early acceleration, summa cum laude undergraduate honors, a selective law school and admission to the bar, with no academic research record and no test result behind it. Group averages tend to rise with education (see average IQ by education level), so an estimated IQ of 130–145 is reasonable. That range sits level with Sam Harris (130–145) and Yuval Noah Harari (130–145), whose pages rest on completed research doctorates, and a little above Jordan Peterson (125–140); the gaps are smaller than the method can resolve. Whether he reaches what is usually called a genius IQ level is a question only a test could answer.
Ben Shapiro: the documented record
The estimate above rests on this record. Every entry here is a matter of public fact, which is more than can be said for the number itself.

- 2001–02Hired by Creators Syndicate at 17 as a nationally syndicated columnist (his Daily Wire biography); the year follows from his age.
- 2004Graduates from UCLA at 20 with a B.A. in political science, summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa per Simon & Schuster; WND Books publishes his first book, Brainwashed, in May.
- 2007Earns a J.D. from Harvard Law School, cum laude.
- December 2007Admitted to the State Bar of California on December 13.
- 2015Co-founds The Daily Wire with Jeremy Boreing (Wikipedia gives September 21); The Ben Shapiro Show podcast begins that September.

Where the 140 figure came from
Following a claim back to its first appearance is the part almost nobody does — and it is what most people are actually asking.

The Ben Shapiro IQ score that circulates is 140, and none of the pages that print it names a test, an examiner or a date. celebrityiqs.com titles its page “Ben Shapiro IQ Score: 140” and adds a footer note that its scores are “not guaranteed” and are for entertainment purposes only. sociosite.net gives 140 and says he has “never actually sat for an IQ test.” scientific.place labels 140 an estimate and credits iqtesta.com, whose own page says his IQ is “certainly over 130 and could be 140” and that it is difficult to say without a real testing. celebrityiq.info goes higher, printing an “Estimated IQ” of 145 (99.87th percentile) on general traits such as debating skill, under a footer that calls its figures estimates, not verified test results. For how numbers like these get attached to famous names, see where celebrity IQ numbers come from.
A figure above 150 is also passed around, but only as hearsay. Riot IQ’s article of August 16, 2026 says online forums attribute a higher number to an offhand remark he supposedly made and that no clip or citation exists. We found no page in which he states a score himself, and no test name, examiner or date anywhere. On the usual 15-point scale, 140 is about 2.7 standard deviations above the mean and 145 is 3.0 (see what an IQ of 140 means and how rare a high IQ score is), so a claim that high needs a named test. Opinions about someone’s intelligence, favorable or unfavorable, are not test results.
The other number passed around is an LSAT score, and it fares no better: we found none published for Shapiro, and Riot IQ says an LSAT figure passed around online is unsourced. What admission to Harvard Law School can tell us is limited but real. The school’s own profile of its J.D. Class of 2029, current as of August 26, 2026, reports 9,061 applications, 780 offers, an admit rate of 8.6% and LSAT scores of 172, 174 and 176 at the 25th, 50th and 75th percentiles, and the Law School Admission Council says studies show the LSAT is the single best predictor of first-year law school performance. A Harvard law degree therefore implies a steep test-score filter. But that profile describes a current class, not his own. It counts 170 Phi Beta Kappa inductees among the 561 enrolled students, so that membership is common in the group. And the LSAT is an admission test, not an IQ test (see how graduate-admission scores convert to IQ estimates).
What would settle the question is a documented result: a named test, an examiner and a date, released by Shapiro or by a source close to him. The biographies and records we read, from Simon & Schuster, The Daily Wire, Creators Syndicate and the State Bar of California, describe degrees, jobs, books and a bar admission, and none mentions an IQ test. Anyone curious about their own reasoning can take a timed test such as the IQ Metrics test, but a score for someone else has to come from a record, and the records for Ben Shapiro contain none.
How we read a number →Lists “Admitted to the State Bar of California” on 12/13/2007, the law school as “Harvard Univ Law School; Cambridge MA,”. No IQ or test score.
The biography: founding editor-in-chief and editor emeritus of The Daily Wire and host of The Ben Shapiro Show; B.A. in political science from UCLA in 2004; Harvard Law School in 2007; attorney at Goodwin Procter LLP, then Benjamin Shapiro Legal Consulting (Los Angeles); hired by Creators Syndicate at 17 as the youngest nationally syndicated columnist in the U.S.; books with publishers, including Brainwashed (WND Books, May 2004), Bullies (Simon & Schuster, 2013) and The Right Side of History (HarperCollins, 2019, a New York Times #1 bestseller). About page: he and Jeremy Boreing launched the company in 2015. Episode page: the list runs to Ep. 2515, September 29, 2026. His own employer’s account; no mention of IQ.
Simon & Schuster’s biography says he graduated from UCLA summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa in 2004 and from Harvard Law School cum laude in 2007; that is the publisher’s wording, not a university record. Creators Syndicate (© 2026) calls him a graduate of UCLA and Harvard Law School and co-founder of Daily Wire+. Neither mentions IQ.
Says he graduated from UCLA that spring at 20, grew up in the Los Angeles area skipping grades three and nine and entering UCLA at 16, that his parents had to sign his first syndicated-column contract because he was 17, that Brainwashed was published by WND Books, and that he was headed to Harvard Law School. Only these biographical details are used.
Handbook, “Graduation with Honors”: summa cum laude requires a 4.75 GPA; magna cum laude goes to the next ten percent and cum laude to the next 30 percent of the class eligible for honors (the current rule, not necessarily the 2007 one). Profile (Class of 2029, as of 8/26/2026): 9,061 applications, 780 offers, 561 enrolled, admit rate 8.6%, LSAT 172/174/176 at the 25th/50th/75th percentiles, 170 Phi Beta Kappa inductees. LSAC: studies have consistently shown the LSAT to be the single best predictor of first-year law school performance. No score for Shapiro or his class.
Wikidata: American commentator born 1984-01-15, place of birth Los Angeles, no date of death; educated at UCLA (B.A., political science, 2004, Latin honors) and Harvard Law School (J.D., 2007, Latin honors). Wikipedia’s infobox gives Burbank, California as the birthplace and says The Daily Wire launched on September 21, 2015; its article on the show says the podcast launched in September 2015. Open Library confirms the years of the three books named here and lists WND Books, Threshold Editions and Broadside Books as their imprints.
celebrityiqs.com: “IQ: 140,” scores “not guaranteed,” for entertainment purposes only. sociosite.net: 140; says he has never actually sat for an IQ test. scientific.place: “estimated to be 140,” per iqtesta.com. iqtesta.com: over 130, could be 140; difficult to say without a real testing. celebrityiq.info: “Estimated IQ” 145 (99.87th percentile) on general traits; footer says estimates, not verified test results. None names a test, an examiner or a test date.
Riot IQ says his IQ has never been publicly tested or published; that a 140 is listed on celebrity IQ sites with no test documentation; that forums attribute a higher figure to an offhand remark with no verifiable clip or citation; and that a circulating LSAT number is unsourced.
Looked for on Wikipedia and Wikidata, his Daily Wire and Simon & Schuster biographies, Creators Syndicate, the State Bar of California, Harvard Law School’s pages, the 2004 AP profile and the aggregator pages above; no test, examiner, date or first-person statement of a score appears. Searches for a self-reported IQ and for his LSAT score returned no primary source.
The sources behind our estimate
The figures that circulate for Ben Shapiro, what we were able to confirm, and where the two diverge.
The figure that circulates for Ben Shapiro is 140, printed as his IQ score on celebrityiqs.com, sociosite.net and scientific.place, which credits iqtesta.com (130–140, “could be 140”). celebrityiq.info prints 145 as an “Estimated IQ.” Riot IQ (August 16, 2026) adds that forums attribute a higher number to an offhand remark, with no clip or citation.
No IQ test result and no self-reported score appears on any page we read — Wikipedia and Wikidata, his Daily Wire and Simon & Schuster biographies, the Creators Syndicate author page, the State Bar of California profile, Harvard Law School’s pages or the Associated Press’s 2004 profile. The pages that print a number say what it rests on: an entertainment-only note (celebrityiqs.com), a statement that he has never sat for an IQ test (sociosite.net), general traits under a footer calling the figures estimates, not verified test results (celebrityiq.info), and a remark that it is difficult to say without a real testing (iqtesta.com). Riot IQ says his IQ has never been publicly tested or published.
Both circulating figures fall inside 130–145, in its upper half, which is unusual on this site, where most numbers run above what the record supports. That does not confirm them: two pages that agree are not two checks when neither cites a test, and the above-150 hearsay sits outside the range with no source at all.

Ben Shapiro — frequently asked
What is Ben Shapiro’s IQ?
No IQ test result for Ben Shapiro has been published, so his IQ has no measured value. The 140 and 145 that circulate come from aggregator pages that cite no test. IQ Metrics estimates a range of 130–145, inferred from his UCLA degree at 20, his Harvard Law School J.D. (2007) and his California bar admission. It is an inference, not a score.
Did Ben Shapiro take an IQ test?
There is no public record of one. No biography or official page we read mentions an IQ test, and we found none where he states a score. sociosite.net says he has never sat for one, and Riot IQ says his IQ has never been publicly tested or published. Whether he took a private test is unknown.
Where does Ben Shapiro’s IQ score of 140 come from?
It appears as an estimate on aggregator pages: celebrityiqs.com prints 140, sociosite.net says everyone pretty much assumes it, and scientific.place credits iqtesta.com, which says it is difficult to say without a real testing. None names a test, examiner or date. celebrityiq.info prints 145 as an “Estimated IQ.” Neither number is a measurement.
What are Ben Shapiro’s qualifications?
He holds a B.A. in political science from UCLA (2004) and a J.D. from Harvard Law School (2007), cum laude. The State Bar of California lists him as admitted on December 13, 2007. He worked as an attorney at Goodwin Procter LLP and was hired as a syndicated columnist at 17.
What was Ben Shapiro’s LSAT score?
We found no published LSAT score for Ben Shapiro. Riot IQ says an LSAT figure passed around online is unsourced. Harvard Law School’s current class profile reports a median LSAT of 174, but that describes a class, not him.
Is Ben Shapiro a genius?
No IQ test has labeled him one, and “genius” is not a documented status. What is documented is a UCLA degree at 20, a Harvard Law School J.D. and a bar admission, which support an estimated IQ level of 130–145: high, but not certified. A genius-level label would need a named, proctored test.
How does Ben Shapiro’s estimated IQ compare with Sam Harris’s or Jordan Peterson’s?
IQ Metrics places Ben Shapiro’s estimated IQ at 130–145, level with Sam Harris (130–145) and a little above Jordan Peterson (125–140). Harris and Peterson are placed by doctorates and research, Shapiro by honors degrees and a law career, so the ranges overlap and the gaps sit inside the method’s margin of error. None is a test result.
How does my IQ compare with Ben Shapiro?
You can find out in about fifteen minutes. The IQ Metrics assessment is 30 questions, scored on the same 100-mean scale used throughout this page, so your result and the estimate above are at least expressed in the same units — one measured, one inferred. Once you have a number, the leaderboard shows where it would sit, and how we score and norm it explains the benchmarking.
